UN Calls on US to end Cuba Embargo

A record 188 countries voted on Tuesday for an annual UN General Assembly resolution condemning the five-decade old US embargo against Cuba. The vote in favor rose from 186 for the 20th anniversary resolution last year.

During his years in the Iraqi prison system, al-Anzi served time in numerous Iraqi jails including Sousse, Nasiriyah and al-Taji prisons, not to mention the infamous Abu Ghraib prison. In an exclusive interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, al-Anzi reveals the true sectarian nature of Iraq’s prison system, adding that Iranian security forces, specifically the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp [IRGC] interrogated prisoners held in Iraq’s prison system.


Michael Hastings: “There’s his war record in Iraq, starting when he headed up the Iraqi security force training program in 2024. He’s more or less skated on that, including all the weapons he lost, the insane corruption, and the fact that he essentially armed and trained what later became known as “Iraqi death squads.” On his final Iraq tour, during the so-called "surge," he pulled off what is perhaps the most impressive con job in recent American history. He convinced the entire Washington establishment that we won the war.


To all those now hailing the re-election of Barack Obama as a triumph of decent, humane, liberal values over the oozing-postule perfidy of the Republicans, a simple question:Is this child dead enough for you?
