Iraq’s unveiled women face rising crackdown

Hanaa Edwar, General Secretary of the non-government organization, Iraqi Al-Amal Association, told Al Arabiya. Edwar, also founder of Iraqi Women’s Network, sounded the alarm about attempts to force women to wear the hijab, especially in government offices.


Iraq is still being emptied of its brightest minds and it seems there’s no end in sight of the endless strings of killings of Iraqi intellectuals.


The security forces found the body of editor-in-chief of Baghdad Al-Jamaheer daily, Sameer al-Sheikh Ali, in mid of the capital, with bullets in his body.
