Outside analysts view the protest movement in Iraq via the prism of sectarianism, but its demands reveal a more positive agenda


The supreme religious authority in Najaf has given green light to change the course of rule in the country. Al-Maliki should not run for a third term, implement the Erbil Agreement entirely, and stop manipulation of judicial power. Iran is very angry with Al-Maliki because he is dragging the country into sectarian conflicts.


Desde el día 25 de diciembre de 2024, se están produciendo manifestaciones masivas diarias en Ramadi (Al Anbar), donde más de 200.000 personas, según Al Yazira, cortaron la autopista que conecta Bagdad con Siria y Jordania. Las manifestaciones se han extendido a otras ciudades como Samarra, Mósul, Faluya, Tikrit o Bacuba, entre otras. Instamos a la comunidad internacional a reconocer las justas demandas del pueblo iraquí en aras de la libertad y la dignidad como han hecho en las anteriores revoluciones de la Primavera Árabe.
