The leading figure in the Sadrist movement, Hazem al-Araji, said in a statement, reported for "Shafaq News", that "I have said since more than two years that we divide the Iraqi people to two parties, the Party of the Green Zone which is the officials party of ministers and MPs and the ration card party which is the party of the poor and they are a lot unfortunately in our beloved Iraq.”
'The Green Zone party fights always the ration card party through the adoption of laws that affect the social, living life and others."
Araji said that "the government chose this decision at the wrong time which is at the beginning of Muharram, as it is well aware that Hussienyieh processions are settled in this month and lasts for forty days, serving pilgrims of Imam Hussein by offering them food, tea and etc., that means that processions consume rice, Sugar , tea and others. "

The Iraqi government had decided earlier to cancel the ration card and replace it with an amount of money, but it had retraced from its decision later because of the protests over the cancelation decision.
