The Iraqi judicial and legal system does not respect life, human rights or international standards. It is flawed and inhumane at all levels, from the initial arrest of a person, to their detention conditions, their methods of interrogation and extracting confessions, to their sentencing without trials and finally, to the execution of prisoners.
Back then, everybody was writing about Iraq, but it’s surprising how few Americans, including reporters, paid much attention to the suffering of Iraqis.
