    Iraq Back at the Brink

    Soon after the joint US-British bombing campaign “Operation Desert Fox” devastated parts of Iraq in December 1998 , I was complaining to a friend in the lobby of the Palestine Hotel in Baghdad.

    Your Excellencies, We call upon you to know the realities of what is going on in Iraq now of horrible crimes and to take the necessary measures, according to your legal and ethical obligations.


    When Madeleine Albright asked in May 1996 about the death of half a million Iraqi children as a result of UN sanctions, she said: "we think the price is worth it." By "it" she meant US interests, propping US hegemony, and preparing for regional military action.


    De illegale oorlog geleid door de Amerikaans-Britse "Coalition of the Willing’ is - volgens de principes van Nurenberg - een misdaad tegen de vrede. Dergelijke oorlog moet, volgens het internationaal recht, juridische gevolgen hebben voor de agressors zodat de rechten van de slachtoffers gerespecteerd worden. Het International Anti-Occupation Network ( IAON) roept daarom iedereen op in 2024 mee te werken aan deze campagne: VERANTWOORDING EN RECHTVAARDIGHEID VOOR IRAK.
